Childhood Obesity: The Overlooked Epidemic

Community Health is a very important issue that is overlooked by citizens and politicians. We trust in government officials to find cures and solutions to our health problems, but not to look at the source of these problems. If we make a change in the health of the community, you need to think in the heart of the problem and focus more on primary prevention rather than tertiary prevention techniques. With most of our health problems of the community are preventable diseases, to prevent them, we must eradicate the cause.

Childhood obesity is increasing and managed to do something about it. Of course, there have been numerous attempts to reduce the rate of obesity in children, but these attempts are more focused on secondary and tertiary prevention. We focus too much on the reversal of the effects of obesity and lack of time in preventing obesity in the first place. If we inform our community of health risk running when they are obese, we can teach them how to prevent it. We need to target parents and not children. Parents are the source of food for children at an early age, they should be fed properly and active for these preventable diseases occur later in life. Physical education in schools should be more active and less optional. We need to teach physical education actually rather than allow students to move freely between them and choose whether or not active.

A child is unable to make life decisions about their health as adults we must ensure that the children of our communities are at their best condition. Poor communities are equally able to live a healthy life are the middle class, but without understanding how, think that their lack of health to their financial positions. Community leaders need to provide options for parents looking to keep their children healthy. Community health groups, activities, or even a park would be helpful. If we can get our children out of the house and in the yard, we are making progress. By reducing childhood obesity, which are able to prevent the risk of stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer and heart disease. All these important issues related to obesity and has to be something to do to lower our prices. Obesity increased from 7% in 1980 to 18% in 2012. This is not a good scale to join with our future generations. Approximately 1/3 of Americans, including adults are obese, which is even more overwhelming. The problem is people, not knowing who are obese or think that obesity is just a word that people call people more fit less fit. We must explain to people why they are classified as obese and health risks associated with obesity. Most people listen and think obesity as an insult. We are afraid to tell others who are obese because it sounds offensive and despise parents are told that their child is obese. The truth of the matter is that obesity is here and growing. There is no way to sugarcoat the facts. We can continue to act as if it is not an important issue and rates continue to rise as the year progresses. Children should not have high blood pressure or other illnesses associated with being overweight. This problem will not change until we started to make a priority. I think this is the biggest problem in our health community because people fear the result of bringing childhood obesity around the parents. It is also essential to note that you do not have to be rich or very rich to eat healthier foods and be active. Parents should be more involved in the lives of their children and encourage them to be more active on a daily basis. Restrict TV time and increasing the time spent outdoors. better food choices manufacturer when feeding their children. Teach parents the importance of nutrition and fitness and why it must be for them.

These are the ways we can help make a change in our communities for the better. Focus on the present and not later. When the flu season approaching, we get the flu shots weeks before the virus is actually considered. We vaccinate because prevents us from getting the flu. It is useless to get a flu shot once infected with the influenza virus. Just as this is true, then it is for obesity. We must take action before hand to prevent the disease affects our children.
